Let’s talk about what “nothing” can look like in a time where many activities, assemblies and wage labour are restricted to the confines of one’s own home. As a poor, spoonie, neurodivergent creative, I’ve practiced the art of guiltily doing “nothing” for quite some time. Let’s talk about what “nothing” can look like when these restrictions are lifted; and when employment and funding in the arts is still scarce. Can we move past the guilt of arbitrary standards of productivity by criticising what it actually means to be productive?

Join local food enthusiast and folk songwriter Jack Davies as he delves into the delicious, dark, and mysterious depths of songwriting providing an intimate insight into his writing techniques, and invites you to create, collaborate and share songs within a safe space of like-minded music lovers.

The Met Opera At-Home Gala

In its most ambitious effort yet to bring the joy and artistry of opera to audiences everywhere during the Met’s closure, the company will present an unprecedented virtual At-Home Gala, featuring more than 40 leading artists performing in a live stream from their homes all around the world.

The event will be available for FREE on the Met’s website. General Manager Peter Gelb and Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin will host from their homes in New York City and Montreal, respectively. Mr. Nézet-Séguin will also participate in the gala as a pianist, and will be featured as conductor in pre-recorded performances by the Met Orchestra and Chorus, which will be created from individual takes from the homes of each of the musicians in the days leading up to the gala.

RTR FM Radio Love Month

Tell RTR about your favourite album, the amazing new track you’ve found, or a podcast you love, whatever you’ve been listening to while staying at home and it’ll be added to a massive ongoing playlist – like making a mixtape that can be shared and enjoyed throughout an entire community.

RTRFM is a not for profit independent radio station which is funded by a community of listeners through subscriptions and donations. Radio Love Month is a chance for people to make a contribution.

Creative Connections is delivered entirely online, and you can choose the sessions that are relevant to your needs and interests. All webinars are free and will be published after the live session.

The series is focused around three key themes: leadership, digital and arts practice adaptation, so explore the schedule and choose what works for you.

Weekly Wildflower Stitch Series: Banksia Cones

2-4PM 2 JUN 2020 (AWST) | $30

In Week 1 of the Weekly Wildflower Stitch Series we will be joined by internationally celebrated textile artist, Susie Vickery. In this live online workshop you’ll learn to embroider a stylised Banksia cone over a 2 hour session using french knots, blanket stitch and laid work.

How to Start an Oil Painting with Harrison See

10-11:30AM 6 JUN 2020 (AWST) | $20

Join local artist Harrison See for a live stream from his studio as he starts an original oil painting. Perfect for beginners, in this 90 minute demonstration you will learn about Harrison and his unique approach to a blank canvas. You’ll tour his studio, learn about his chosen tools, paints and mediums and see works in progress before getting started on a new piece. Ask questions live and get the intel you need to work from home. Harrison’s step by step workbook will be provided after the demonstration.

Bookbinding: Buttonhole Stitch

7-8PM 10 JUN 2020 (AWST) | $20

Join Phoebe Todd-Parrish to make a sophisticated notebook or sketchbook with simple materials you already have at home. In this live demonstration you'll learn step-by-step to bind using a buttonhole stitch or "long-stitch" book structure which can hold many pages/signatures and is perfect for creating your personalised sketchbooks.

Weekly Wildflower Stitch Series: Banksia Cones

2-4PM 11 JUN 2020 (AWST) | $30

In Week 2 of our Weekly Wildflower Stitch Series we will be joined by textile artist and designer Angela Ferolla. In this live online workshop you’ll learn step by step techniques to create a stylised Spider Orchid using a combination of embroidery and appliqué. Use your finished pieces to sew onto a cushion cover, tote bag, T-shirt or a simple piece of fabric.
