2020 Act Belong Commit Youth Ambassador
Here's a note from Bridget:
"I started my arts journey at the end of 2017 when I shocked my family and friends changing from physical education studies to the visual arts. Completing my year 10 work experience at the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery really opened my eyes to the world of art and the extensive career opportunities!
I completed my Diploma of Visual Art at TAFE in 2018 and am currently studying online to complete a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Curtin University.
Being from regional WA I've grown up where the beach meets the bush. Collecting shells and making playhouses from trees is in my blood, this appreciation for nature shines through all my works. Most of the time my art is abstracted or non-representational which reflects my organic processes.
I'm passionate about the art of making art and how creating can help with mental health. I find the processes in which an artist takes to create their piece is just as, if not more, beautiful than the final work.
In the future I see myself being involved in art as a therapy and helping young minds with mental wellness. Art gives the power to us all, to express our feelings and emotions in its raw and unique forms. I look forward to connecting with the community through the Youth Ambassador program."
Bridget was a star attraction at the reopening of The Exchange in Carnamah, working with youth to make brushes and then use them to create artworks.
